You offer "Darts", "Karaoke", "Beer Pong", "Trivia", and yet with all these standard bar features, your slow, you have very few Women frequent your bar.
You have the usual hard working "Joe Six Packs" come in every afternoon.
You have the usual early evening eagles fly in, but your late night business is almost non existent.
So you turn to local bands. The same bands that play everywhere, that play the same sets of songs, that dress the same, that put no effort into improving the quality of their performances.
You can't charge a Cover Charge, because, they play everywhere, so you place the burden on your bar to pay your band. ( banging head)
You allow smoking, if you don't serve food. Or you provide a "Smoking Area" outside.
Hopefully, you don't charge Customers to hear music.
You have a Pool Table.
Of course you have "Sixty Inch Screen" and not small flat screens, those days are long gone.
Your Barmaids dress in a V-Neck T-shirt with your logo on it and Black Shorts.
You have Ceiling fans going.
Your Bathrooms are sparkling clean and not abused, used, and reused.
Your Barmaids free pour, because they know how to snap that wrist back and not "OVER POUR".
Your walls are not full of junk, beer garbage, worn out computer printed signs.
You ignore Craft Beers, except to carry a few, because you don't understand the entire "Craft Beer Craze".
If you think your going to sell your bar for "TOP DOLLAR", when it's suffering, sinking and softening, you need to wake up with a splash of ice cold water in the face.
NOT GONNA HAPPEN.
You sell a Bar @ it's Peak not at it's Poorest.

CAULIFLOWER MASHED, DINING GUESTS CANNOT TELL THIS DISH FROM A BAKED POTATO, CAULIFLOWER WITH EXTRA LIGHT VIRGIN OIL OVER IT, AND LEMON PEPPER SPRINKLED ON IT, THEN BAKED.

MY STORY BEARS REPEATING, ESPECIALLY IN THESE TIMES.
I OWNED JEANS STORES, THE BIGGEST, MOST POPULAR IN FLORIDA.
A JEANS SALESMAN COMES INTO MY MAIN STORE AND TELLS ME, "YOU HAVE TO SELL THIS JEAN, IT WILL BLOW OUT, IT'S THE HOTTEST JEANS STYLE RIGHT NOW".
I am reluctant, I have heard all this "Pitch" before and sometimes I got burned.
But what came next even surprised me.
He said "I guarantee they sell, if not, just send them back".
He was guaranteeing the Jean would sell, or if they didn't he would lose the commission and eat them.
So, I ordered the Jeans.
They blew out, just as he said they would.
My Point is, in the "Bar Industry", when a beer, wine, liquor Salesman, tells you, "It's a must have on your bar, it's a" Sure Pour".
You know what your response is?
"YOU BELIEVE SO STRONGLY IN THIS PRODUCT, I WILL BUY A CASE, AND WHEN AND IF IT DOES NOT SELL, I WANT YOU TO TAKE IT BACK AND CREDIT MY ACCOUNT".
NOW, WHEN HE OR SHE SAYS THEY "CAN'T DO THAT". OF COURSE THEY CAN. ASK THEIR SALES MANAGER. IF THE HYPE IS THERE, WHY IS THERE NO FAITH IN THE SALE?
IF A VENDOR WON'T GAURANTEE THE BRAND WILL SEE FROM YOUR BAR, YOU DON'T NEED IT.
I FIND THIS INDUSTRY SO FULL OF BROKEN "HYPE" THAT SO OFTEN DOES NOT PAN OUT.
There are so many new Flavors, new Brands, new Craft Beers being rolled out, with no thought process, as to how they even fit in. Just pure "Domination" to own more of the share of the market. A Bar can only hold so many Bottles, a Beer Cooler can only hold so much beer.
I have always said, "A Customer comes in for a Brand that rarely sells". You reply, "Sorry we don't carry out".
NOBODY IS WALKING OUT BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE IT. IN MY EXPERIENCE IN THIS BIZ, THEY WILL ORDER ANOTHER CHOICE.
"SERVICE IS MORE VITAL THAN EVER BEFORE".
There is no time to inform or educate Customers what a New Brand represents and why it is different than the rest. You give great service by "Serving QUICKLY & PROFESSIONALLY WITH A SMILE".
What you should do is take your current brands and bottles, creating "FRESH" "CRAFTINIS", "CRAFT COCKTAILS", "SIGNATURE DRINKS", "HOUSE SPECIALITIES". That is where you overtake your competing bars. With "Drink Creations". I have never seen so many bars become complacent, lazy, lax, and think that it's ok? NO, it's not. Get off your Tuchus Bar Owners and overtake your competition NOW.
BAR WARS BUT WHY ?
RECENTLY, Two Bars located near each other engaged in "Bar Begging", by attempting to attract Ladies by giving them free drinks.
When I asked where the Music, the Dance Floor, the Food without even having a Kitchen were? The Bar that contacted me, said " We don't have any of that".
When I asked them what are you doing for "Super Bowl", they said "Nothing".
Their entire focus is on "Ladies Drinking Free". Ignore the fact , that there is not a Lady out there, that cannot get a male customer to buy her a drink, these bars, are losing money, bringing in women just to get drunk, over serving, and letting female patrons leave their bar, "Loaded".
They offer no "FUN", no "WOW", no "FAB", NONE.
They are boring, stale, predictable, and losing tens of thousands of dollars.
They are holding their own "Pity Party", instead of doing just the opposite.
Which is launching a massive "WOW FACTOR STRATEGY" that includes Social Media Blitzing, Nightly ENERGY, Giving Women a REAL REASON to come into their bar, that has ZERO Focus on the price of a drink.
I had a bar that every Wednesday offered $1 drinks for everyone from the well.
They had 200 people and did $1000.
I had them STOP THE $1 MADNESS and take down those signs, transform your Wednesday Night into a Night of Excitement and Enticement.
What happened, within two weeks, they had the same 200 people,only they did $3500. no problem. When you REDIRECT the focus of your Customers, from price, cheap, free, to "FUN", "WOW", "FAB", you create real cash flow and you stop the "trash cash" Nights.
